6th Week of Pregnancy

Congratulations! A positive result for the pregnancy test, and internal Ultrasound. In this week of pregnancy, your baby has formed a lot of parts in the body. These are the; Nose, Fore brain prominence, Lungs, Spine (or the baby's tail), Jaw, Heart prominence (circulatory system), Lower Limb Bud, and the Upper Limb Bud that has webbed-like anatomy that will be the future toes and fingers, as well as the baby's palate; and by the end of this week, he or she will be 4-6 mm like the size of a pumpkin seed. At this point in time, you will feel more dizzy and your nausea gets worse because of the rise of your hormone level. It is normal to vomit each day, or often times; you wouldn't know when will it strike. The dark portion of your nipples “areola” gets darker, and your breasts starts to get a little bit heavy and you feel like it's swollen. Avoid using a loose, absorbent material used as a litter box to clean the feces and urine disposal system for pets such as cats for it may cause Toxoplasmosis (a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii  that infects warm blooded animals, but the primary host is the family of cats).

The most common problem that every pregnant woman grumble about this week is Heartburn. Some will gain about a lot of pounds, but some will lose their normal weight. Some will have episodes of bleeding, pink spots or sudden cramping, but nothing to worry about for this is normal in pregnancy. But be sure not to have excessive bleeding or persistent cramping for it is a sign of miscarriage and you have to consult your physician if this happens. This is the right week to visit your health care provider and try to ask things that you concern the most like the types of birthing technique. The first step in physical exam is weighing your body's mass, it should be in normal range; not too little and not too much. For mothers who complain about their vitamins for their pregnancy, one good thing to take those supplements are before they go to sleep or at least after every meal. Second step is to take the mother's blood pressure to know if there is a possibility of hypertension. Then to examine the breasts to figure out unevenness or distortion. Lastly is I.E or Internal Examination to check for foreign bodies and to test for cervical motion tenderness that can be seen with women who has pelvic inflammatory disease.
