16th week of pregnancy

Things are finally starting to sink in. Now you are really getting used to it, this baby thing will really happen no matter what. And now that things are getting a bit easy for you, you will have the option to plan where it’s going to happen. Now is the best time to plan for hospital trips, visit local birth centers ... and now that your planning for some trips, its a great time for a get-a-way too. While your baby is gaining more in length and weight, about 4 and a half inch from crown to rump and about 3 ounces, roughly the size of an avocado. His will be more developed, his head is starting to be in an upright position.

By now, your baby-to-be is doing more of the job for you, his kidneys begin to function and hes starting to urinate that then goes through your umbilical cord. Bile is then secreted within his stomach but still relies for all the nutrients you give. Your baby’s movements will be more obvious, you will feel your baby move from time to time. But as your bump is not yet fully formed expect more soreness in your body, mostly in your back and abdomen area. You can also notice that your breast slightly sores as it gets larger because tissues fill in and readies itself for milk production. During this phase you may experience headaches, mood swings, and slight dizziness.

But nothing can stop you now sweetie! If you are planning to go out for a trip at any point of your pregnancy, this is the right time to do it, your second trimester will open you more opportunities that you never had in the past few weeks of your pregnancy. Say goodbye to nausea, and start showing off your beautiful baby bump. At this point you’re starting to fit nicely on your maternity pants while your pregnancy glows in full bloom. You will start to feel a whole lot better, as nausea and sudden mood swings lessen. Your glowing skin will be a sign of better weeks to come.

But before you make any plans, you must first take a visit to your doctor. Even if you seem to feel a lot better now, your doctor must evaluate your health before going on to any trip, and when leaving don’t forget to have you doctors number ready—just in case you need anything.

Your safety is always first. So before anything else, be sure to have your first aid kit filled with things you might need. Medicines like Tylenol, anti-diarrhea, heartburn and cold medicines will sure come in handy. Consult your physician for any over-the-counter and prescription medications that you might be planning to bring on your trip, since not all these medications are safe for pregnancy.

Always keep a leisurely pace during your travels and keep in mind to always take care of yourself. You might be tempted to do a lot of things, remember that pregnancy is not the time for any adventurous activities. Too much walking can cause uncomfortable swelling. Always keep your self hydrated at all times and take frequent potty breaks, avoiding it may harm your bladder and lead to urinary track infections. Just remember to enjoy the rest of the weeks to come as you get closer and closer to the happiest day of your life.
